Mishkan Ha'am  - More February News    Feb. 2, 2009

Subject - President's Day Week

Hello, Mishkan Ha'am family and friends - here are a few announcements:

Sign up for the Yiddish Book Center trip. Mark Sunday, April 19 on your calendar for our field trip to the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Ma. The center's mission is to "rescue Yiddish and other modern Jewish books and celebrate the culture they contain." For those with young kids, note that the museum is across the street is the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, which also will be open. It's a 3 1/2 hour drive from New York--a full-day's outing--and she'd like a count of likely participants to gauge the need for a bus charter. For additional information, go to www.yiddishbookcenter.organhttp://www.picturebookart.org. Marsha Heiman would like to have a full count of who's going by March 10. Please contact her at marshway@optonline.net.

60th Anniversary Shabbat. Save Saturday morning, March 7 at 10 am as Lenny and Marian Meyerson are called to the Torah to mark their 60th wedding anniversary! Rabbi Benjamin Weiner will lead. The service will be followed by an Oneg Shabbat. All are invited.

Rabbi Host-a-Matic:
Please feed our rabbi! Lots of dates are still available to host Rabbi Ben for a vegetarian or Kosher meal. Go to

and follow the directions.

Thanks from Joshua. Members, check out the attached thank-you note from Joshua and Vanessa Boettiger. Mishkan Ha'am Steering Committee members approved and sent them a wedding gift--some informal glasses they had listed in their registry. Joshua was our esteemed rabbinic leader for 2 1/2 years and now works as a rabbi in Vermont.

Our next weekend of services and events is Feb. 27 and 28:

Friday, Feb.27 7:30-9:30 pm:  Chanting Service, led by Rabbi Benjamin Weiner. Bring
your voices, drums, and rhythm instruments to this unique celebration of Shabbat. We
were so moved by this service a few months ago that it's back by critical acclaim.

are welcome.

All are invited.  Please sign up to bring a vegetarian dish for dinner by clicking on
