Hands These are the hands of Mishkan Ha'am. The joining and overlapping of our hands, including
a thread of children's hands running up the center, has inspired many
interpretations as people have looked upon this visual form of our community
coming together.

Mishkan Ha'am's Torah
was a gift from the Nathan Straus Jewish Center of the Bronx, thanks to
the efforts of its treasurer, Arthur Schickler.
It is far more meaningful to us that the Torah came from their community, rich in its own history, than if it were brand new. Their shul may have closed its doors, but through the passing on of their Torah, the spirit, heart and passions of their congregation have become our responsibility to guard, maintain and augment. Believed originally to be from Poland, and close to one hundred years old, our scroll was "koshered" by rabbi and scribe Manny Vinas and dedicated by our community at our Chanukah celebration in 2000. This photo is a close-up of the Menorah that decorates the Torah cover. Cover photo: Jordan
